Freewheel: Volume One Fundraising Campout!
EDIT 2/26/2010: THE CAMPOUT IS OVER! I’ve reached my goal and in the interest of not taking more than I need, I have taken down the PayPal buttons for the Campout. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who contributed!
Welcome to the campout! Choose from six levels of funding and help Freewheel: Volume One get printed! Freewheel: Volume One will collect the first five chapters of Freewheel into one lovely book. These chapters are not yet available on the web! Please check the description for each fundraising level to see exactly what you will receive and when you will receive it. (Some funding gifts can be received immediately, others may not be available for several months)
The Freewheel Fundraising Campout is for everyone, no matter where you live! Don’t worry about shipping! Don’t worry if you live on the other side of the planet! As part of my thanks to you for helping to fund the book, shipping is free no matter where in the heck you live!

LEVEL ONE: CAN OF BEANS – $8
You can’t have a campout without beans! As a Level One provider of beans, you will receive:
-thanks in the book by name
-a personalized certificate by mail indicating your name and level of funding (received once the book is complete)
-a hand-drawn, personalized thank you note by mail (received within two weeks of payment)
LEVEL TWO: CAN OPENER – $20
What good is a can of beans if you can’t open it? As a Level Two provider of a can opener, you will receive:
-a signed copy of the book, which will NOT be for sale online until several months after printing, but will be available to you immediately after I receive them! (as the book will be finished at the end of February, the book may not be available until April)
-thanks in the book by name
-a personalized certificate by mail indicating your name and level of funding (received with the book)
LEVEL THREE: MATCHES – $50
How do you expect to cook those beans without lighting a fire? You need matches for that! As a Level Three provider of matches, you will receive:
-a signed copy of the book, which will NOT be for sale online until several months after printing, but will be available to you immediately after I receive them! (as the book will be finished at the end of February, the book may not be available until April)
-an 8×10 print exclusive to funders (received with the book)
-thanks in the book by name
-a personalized certificate by mail indicating your name and level of funding (received with the book)
LEVEL FOUR: FIREWOOD – $100
You might have matches, but what do you expect to light? A bunch of leaves? You need firewood, and dang but you sure chopped a lot of it! As a Level Four provider of firewood, you will receive:
-a 9×12 pencil-and-ink commission! You name it, I’ll draw it! (received with the book)
-a signed copy of the book, which will NOT be for sale online until several months after printing, but will be available to you immediately after I receive them! (as the book will be finished at the end of February, the book may not be available until April)
-an 8×10 print exclusive to funders (received with the book)
-thanks in the book by name

LEVEL FIVE: MOONSHINE – $150
Ain’t no party like a moonshine party cuz a moonshine party don’t stop! Beans are great and all, but you gotta wash it down with something, right? As a Level Five provider of moonshine, you will receive:
-a signed copy of the book, which will NOT be for sale online until several months after printing, but will be available to you immediately after I receive them! (as the book will be finished at the end of February, the book may not be available until April)
-an 11×17 print exclusive to funders (received with the book, different from lower level 8×10 print)
-a 9×12 pencil-and-ink commission! You name it, I’ll draw it! (received with the book)
-thanks in the book by name
-a personalized certificate by mail indicating your name and level of funding (received with the book)
LEVEL SIX: BOOTLEGGER – $300
You are the true bringer of the party, despite the risk of your garage exploding, and for that, everyone at the campout is truly grateful. As a Level Six bootlegger, you will receive:
-a page of original art from either Freewheel or My Brain Hurts. Pages from My Brain Hurts can be received within two weeks of payment, while pages from Freewheel will be mailed after the book is printed. Original art is first come, first served, so if you have a particular page in mind, let me know as soon as you place your order.
-Name-A-Hobo – you get to pick a hobo name for a minor character in a future volume (examples of hobo names: Old George, Young Mike, Little Jackie, Large Anders). Since the pages of Volume One are now complete, I can not add any new hobos, but I will use your name for a future hobo which will likely appear in Volume Two.
